Health Professions Students

Northeastern Vermont AHEC is pleased to support students in undergraduate and graduate health professions training programs with a variety of opportunities for community-based education. Click on the links to the left for more information about these programs!

Housing Support
Northern Vermont AHEC provides housing coordination for eligible students in the community where their clinical rotation is taking place. Home-stay housing provides students with the opportunity to see more of the rural community where they are doing their rotation, and this can significantly enhance the learning experience for the student.
  Community Projects
These two-week, community-immersion projects are available to graduate students in health professions programs. Northern Vermont AHEC coordinates the project supports, and connects students’ interest with real community problems that can benefit from the students’ work. Topics vary from year to year.
  Be a Mentor
You can make a big impact on younger students interested in science and health care as a mentor or an instructor in one of our health careers exploration programs. Introduce health careers to high school students at MedQuest or prepare high school seniors for the rigors of college at CollegeQuest. Opportunities to deliver health education and health science content in the classroom with students of all ages are available throughout the school year. Apply your knowledge to inspire others. Contact us for more information.

Planning to Practice in Vermont?

The Vermont Educational Loan Repayment for Health Care Professionals, established by the Vermont General Assembly, is to help ensure a stable supply of primary care providers to meet the health care needs of Vermonters. This program is administered by AHEC. Find out more.
